Homer's Coffee House was founded in 2001 by Jim and Louise Mathis as a ministry of KC CBMC.  The coffee house opened with the purpose of being a "third place" for the people around Overland Park, and being a premier live music venue.  Homer's has hosted hundreds of concerts featuring many genres of music since opening and has been a home away from home for people from all walks of life.

2008 brought about change from Homer's as Jim and Louise decided to move on from Homer's to pursue other things.  Byron and Jerri Whetstone stepped up to become the executive directors of KC CBMC.  They hired Glenn and Vanessa Winkler to be the full time managers of Homer's in charge of the day to day operations of the coffee shop.  The future of Homer's is bright, it will continue to be a great venue for live music, serve the community, and be active in ministry across the city.
